Good intentions.
Posted on Tuesday, March 31st, 2009 at 2:51 pmSpring break is over and we’re trying to get ourselves back on track. The weather was complete shit the entire spring break minus one day, that we had appointments and such. Even that day was cold and windy but at least there was no rain. Sunday before going back was of course lovely out. Although the past two days have been just as bad, today has been hail, rain and just now thunder. Next year our Spring break will be planned and will include going out of town for no less than 3 days and 2 nights. I don’t care if we stay in B-town at some lame ass hotel we are getting away from this house. My secret personal goal is to be able to go to Disney next year during spring break. We’ll see how that pans out.
The kids and I are all really tired of school. Granted not half as tired as we would be if it were public school. My son and I can see on his school dashboard that we are almost done. As of today he’s got less than 19% of school left. We started out with over over 180 lessons in math and language and we’ve only got 30 or so left. It is so nice to be able to show him and myself how much progress we’ve made. This last week we started with multiplcation and division and his cursive is improving daily too. Imagine multiplication, division and cursive in 2nd damn grade. My daughter is getting ready to pick her electives for next year and it is kind of exciting to see what I get to learn along with her. She’s leaning towards video game design, web design and flash animation. I’m leaning towards the latter two but video game design would be cool too I guess.
We celebrated both kids birthdays. We gave in and bought my son a 360 xbox and my daughter got a DS with lots of gadgets and games to go with. I love the DS and within a week went and bought one for my son and I to share. So that was our extravigant income tax purchase this year. Along with paying off credit cards (Bah!). My kids each had their own birthday celebration with relatives instead of a joint one. (So much more to say on that but wont) My daughter had a couple of friends over to spend the night a couple days after hers. It was fun and I think they both enjoyed their birthday.
Husband’s job is the same old same old. Just glad at this point he has a job since so many don’t. I know they’ve cut his company and the amount of stores they have all across the US and Canada so we’ll just give thanks and try not to complain much about the frozen raises part.
Just can’t think of anything else…. almost sounds as if I were writing a letter to my brother. I should do that….

I am very impressed at how far you’ve gotten with second grade. James is not doing any of that yet.
Thanks Bonnie!
