Acceptance.

Posted in Day-to-day | 2 Comments »

My husband works with this guy, not directly but indirectly. My husband helped get him the job and then trained him to do the job. I cannot stand this guy, let’s call him….Jim. Jim is a know it all and he feels the need to show he is better than you are.

The sight of this man makes me want to physically hurt him. I am having a hard time keeping my mouth shut, my opinions to myself and not saying anything rude. Couple of nights ago my husband got some pretty crappy work related news. When Jim called later, he asked how I was, I said fine, how about yourself and his reply was “well I was having a pretty good day until your husband got that news.” I couldn’t help myself, I was already angry about the news so I said, “and that affects you how?” It bothered me this guy was going to say something that affected only my husband would somehow change how Jim’s day was going. Give me a break. Gee, I’m really sorry that my husband is going to be working major hours and re-merchandising his entire store, made your day turn sour.

Anyway, I know my husband kind of likes this guy and wouldn’t mind having him as a friend. Jim also has a son that has spent two nights at our house with our son. (I’m not real fond of this son, either but honestly I don’t know the kid well, so its probably just me holding his Dad’s personality against him.) So it would really be beneficial for me to be able to get over my repulsion to him. The problem is that I have no idea how to do that.

So what do I do to be able to stand being around this guy without wanting to kick his nuts through the top of his head or without using every cuss word known to man? How can I be civil to this guy who, belittles myself and my husband with his “I’m so much better and smarter than you are.” “Oh and my wife is a talented and wonderful person. (Whom I can’t really stand and whom wants to leave me.) but we’re still better than you are.”

How?

Baby time.

Baby was supposed to be picked up around 2:30. My husband was kind enough to call the Daddy and tell him he couldn’t have his baby back yet. “Amy’s just not really to give him back yet, go find something to do, go play golf or whatever…” So the Mommy called back and said we could keep him until she got off work at 8ish.

We gave him a bath, he got a little mad. The kids thought he was loud, it was barely a yell. We lotioned him up and dressed him as quick as possible. Ash is a natural talent with the baby. Her only problem is anything that comes out of a baby. She’s not down with that noise. She says, it ruins the whole “baby effect” heh!

We offered to watch him anytime they needed us. They have sooo much family around that the need won’t arise often. It was fun. I had forgotten how much those little tiny babies sleep. The kids expected him to do more than poop, eat and sleep.

I think we’ll go get our pumpkins tomorrow and carve them. We’re kind of running out of time here. I’m glad we don’t have school on Monday. You know from here on out, the year is just going to FLY by.

Not a baby sniffer.

OooooOoooo. I’m gonna be watching a 6 week old baby tomorrow for about 6 hours tomorrow. I got to hold this little dude when he was just a day old. He was only around 6 pounds which to me is small. My kids were both around 8 pounds. I can’t even imagine the tiny little diapers. He’s got big feet though… I remember that. I’m excited!

I’ve worked in my son’s class three times now. Still trying to gauge my opinions. She sent home a note today looking for snacks for the “Harvest Party”. There is no school Monday and the party is on Wednesday… that seems kinda like short notice to me. She asked if I’d be coming.

Baby! Gonna snuggle me some baby. woohoo. Only wish it was my own baby. Good thing that husband of mine is shooting blanks. heh

As a small child one of the outstanding memories I have is mixing cookies with my Mom. She had this super cool Hamilton Beach® Stand Mixer. It was super cool because it would continue to mix while you poured the different ingredients into the bowl. You didn’t have to hold the bowl or the mixer so you could freely add ingredients.

My Mom had her Hamilton Beach® Mixer for probably about 20-25 years. She used it so often she left it on the counter for her next use. We could make the biggest batch of sugar cookies at Christmas time. Then we’d transfer the dough into another bowl and start making gingerbread dough.

Eclectrics® Mixers are the best mixers out there. There is honestly no comparison to other mixers. They are high quality and will last for a long time to come.

Coffee.

Husband asks, can I please have a cup of coffee. 10-15 minutes later she brings him coffee…

because on the way to the kitchen she passed the playroom and saw their daughter on the computer and on the phone… she’s been on the phone a lot this evening which she doesn’t have a problem with, except that she’s using cell phone minutes. They talk briefly and she continues on to the kitchen. Once in the kitchen she pours the coffee into the cup then goes to rinse out the coffee pot, notices the dishes left in there and starts rinsing them. She sees the cup of coffee so she puts it in the microwave and then turns back to finish loading the dishes in the dishwasher. She gets the girl dog set up for the night, fresh undies (HA!) she remembers the coffee, gets it from the microwave and adds sugar and milk. Wipes down the counter, put away the stuff on the table and then returns with the coffee, but not before stopping at her son’s area and help him spell something on the computer. Finally she returns with the coffee.
